Dreamsicle Mocktail / #SundaySupper

I love fun drinks! I especially like them in the summer when it is hot and humid and nothing seems to quench my thirst. One of my favorite ways to stay cool when I was a kid was to eat as many creamsicles as I could get away with. That orange and cream flavor is so YUM and refreshing and is the idea behind my favorite drink, Creamsicle Dreamsicle Mocktail!

Snack Time Fruit on a Stick /#15 Minute Friday

Sometimes it only takes a few extra minutes to make something look special, and in return make it enticing and irresistible! That was my goal today for this #15 Minute Friday post. How to make simple grapes and bananas look special enough that children will pick the fruit over a cookie or candy. I think this Snack Time Fruit on a Stick just might work!
Snack Time Fruit on a Stick
(printable recipe at end of post)

Red Grapes
Green Grapes
Bananas
Palm Tree Drink Stirrers
Strawberry Yogurt
1 Dollop of Whipped Cream

This is all you need for each skewer. Decide what design you want to use to thread on the fruit. make them all the same, or change it around. I cut the bananas a bit wide. If they are too thin, they will fall off the skewer.
I think the skewers add a fun element to this very simple snack.
Mix the whipped cream and the yogurt. The fruit tastes great dipped in this.
That's all there is to it. The stirrers can be found at the dollar store. They come 10 to a package.
Thanks for joining me for another 15 Minute Friday!

Fresh Fruit Salad / #TasteCreations

I love a fun picnic anytime of year! Do you? They are so fun in the fall, with falling leaves and the crisp autumn air, and I love them in the spring when everything is starting to bloom, and I can't wait to get outside after a long winter,  and or course they are a natural summer activity that I always look forward to. I have had a few winter picnics with friends and family and they are fun too, but there is a lot of hurrying to eat, and constantly stoking the fire to keep warm, and a lot of frozen toes. Fun but in moderation!
We are all about picnic foods at the #TasteCreations party today, so I brought a Fresh Fruit Salad, which is always a favorite! It takes pretty much no time to put together, and it has that great flavor and feeling that you can only get from fresh fruit! I hope you enjoy it!

Star Spangled Cookies / #SundaySupper

Happy 4th of July to you all! I love celebrating the 4th, don't you? I love the reason for the party, the red, white and blue colors, the yummy BBQ atmosphere, the parades, the fun! So today I made some Star Spangled Cookies to celebrate! I used a basic sugar cookie recipe that I have been using for years, but I added a little twist to these cookies. I sprinkled the icing, both in the cookie and on top of the cookie with pop rocks!
At first it gave the cookies that little pop that you get when you use pop rocks, but once the cookies sat for a few hours, the moisture from the frosting dampened the pop rocks. So, there was a little pop from the rocks, but not what I expected. Next time I make these I will only add the pop rocks to the drizzled frosting on the top of the cookies. If I add them right before I serve them, the pop rocks will give that fun pop I was looking for!

Southern Style Seven Layer Dip / #CookOutWeek2017

When we lived in the southwest, a friend of mine brought a 7 Layer Dip over to the house for a party. I was in love with this yummy layered concoction and all it's southwestern flavors like avocado, refried beans and salsa! Talk about good~Yum! Every layer tasted great by itself, but incredibly great all together.
A few years ago, we moved to North Carolina, and for a while now, I having been thinking about recreating "the best dip in the world" with a Southern Style version. So here it is! I used baked beans instead of refried, BBQ instead of salsa, and cheddar instead of 4 Cheese. You are going to love it!
