The Freshman Cook: Grilled Steak Sandwiches w/Foil Pack Veggies/ #Smokin'-O's / #CookoutWeek2017

You are going to love these Grilled Steak Sandwiches w/ Foil Pack Veggies for your next cookout! The tenderized London Broil steak, always my favorite, is juicy and full of flavor with an incredible smokiness from the Applewood Smokin’-O smoke rings. The vegetables are cooked separately in their own foil pack. If you haven’t tried this way of grilling vegetables before, you will be amazed at how easy it is and how tender and tasty your veggies are. Plus, if you know what everyone likes, you can easily design the foil packs so everyone gets their favorite veggies!
This is my second entry in this weeks fun adventure, #CookoutWeek2017! Yesterday I posted yummy Chocolate Caramel S’mores Bars that you will want to try. They are a tasty accompaniment to these Grilled Steak Sandwiches, and there is no better way to start #CookoutWeek2017 than with a dessert! Grilled Steak Sandwiches w/Foil Pack Veggies (printable recipe at end of page)

London Broil Steak (any size)

Ground Pepper
Garlic Powder
Onions
Tomato
Peppers
Mushrooms
Smokin’-O’s Smoke Rings
Puerto Rican Bread
Shredded Lettuce
Chopped Tomatoes
Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese
Mayonnaise Sprinkle ground pepper and garlic powder on both sides of the steak.
We have always tenderized our steaks by using 2 forks and just going crazy puncturing the steaks with the fork prongs a hundred times or so. But this year I wanted to try  something a little easier on our hands, and this tenderizer works great. Much easier on our hands, and quicker too! So tenderize both sides of the meat how ever you want. Set aside.
Putting the foil packs together is easy. I like how everyone can get the veggies they like. Chop up the peppers, onions, and mushrooms. Separate them into piles according to likes and dislikes. Wrap each pile into foil.
Unwrap each foil pack and add a sprinkling of pepper, garlic powder, and a pat of butter. Sorry, almost forgot that! Wrap it up again!
Time to use the Smokin’-O’s! Turn the grill to 400 degrees F. Put 1 smoke ring on top of the grill grates, directly over the flame. I used the Applewood flavor! Don’t soak the ring in water. Keep it dry. Close the lid to the grill and give the Smokin’-O time to light; about 5-10 minutes.
Move the smoke ring out of the line of a direct flame, and grill the london broil. Sear it for 4 minutes on each side. After that, flip every 2 minutes for medium rare. It should take about 12 minutes total.
Add your veggie foil packs to the top rack of the grill at the same time you start the steak. They will cook together.
Awesome smoke! Smells so good!
Gorgeous!
Let the steak rest for 4-5 minutes. Meanwhile get all your fixins’ together.
Cut the london broil into thin slices. Cut on the bias, against the grain for tender slices.
Cut a piece of bread off the loaf, and open it up. Build your sandwich with the shredded lettuce, mayo, cheese, tomatoes and some of those awesome grilled peppers and onions.
Enjoy your sandwich!

Thank you for joining me today and thank you to Smokin’-O’s for giving me some of their smoke rings to try out! Check them out at Smokin’-O’s!
