Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Wooden Spoon or Spatula
  • Aluminum foil (optional )

Ingredients

  • 4 large fresh apples such as Fuji or Honeycrisp, sliced thin
  • 1 package cinnamon rolls store-bought, with icing
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted, for topping
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon for extra spice layer
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar optional, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease the baking dish with a little of the melted butter to prevent sticking.
  • Slice the apples into thin, even rounds and arrange them in the bottom of the prepared dish, creating a single layer.
  • Open the cinnamon roll package and separate the rolls, placing them over the apple slices in an even layer, slightly overlapping if needed.
  • Drizzle the melted butter over the cinnamon rolls and apples, spreading gently with a spatula to ensure even coverage.
  • Sprinkle ground cinnamon and brown sugar evenly over the top to enhance sweetness and spice.
  • Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving so the flavors settle and it’s easier to cut.
  • Serve warm, spooning out layers that showcase the tender apples and gooey cinnamon roll pieces, with the crispy edges providing a delightful contrast.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract to the apple layer or drizzle with icing from the cinnamon rolls after baking for added sweetness.
