– 4 cups apple cider – 1 cinnamon stick – 4 whole cloves – 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg – 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened – 1/4 cup brown sugar – 1/2 cup dark rum – Whipped cream for garnish (optional) – Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish (optional)

1. In a saucepan, heat the apple cider over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Add the cinnamon stick, whole cloves, and ground nutmeg to infuse the cider with spice flavors. Let simmer for 5-7 minutes. 2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter and brown sugar until well combined.  –

3. Once the cider is warmed and infused with spices, remove the cinnamon stick and cloves. Stir in the butter mixture. 4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the dark rum until well incorporated.
