  • 1 bottle 750 ml red wine (such as Rioja or Merlot)
  • 1 cup 240 ml pomegranate juice
  • 1/4 cup 60 ml brandy or orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
  • 2 tablespoons 30 ml honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 orange thinly sliced
  • 1 apple diced
  • 1 cup 150 g pomegranate arils (seeds)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Club soda or sparkling water for serving
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a large pitcher, combine the orange slices, diced apple, and pomegranate arils.
  • Pour the red wine, pomegranate juice, brandy or orange liqueur, and honey or agave syrup into the pitcher.
  • Add the cinnamon stick to the pitcher and stir the mixture gently to combine. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2-4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the chilled Pomegranate Sangria over the ice. Top each glass with a splash of club soda or sparkling water for a bit of fizz.
  • Garnish each glass with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and a hint of freshness.
