Equipment

  • Large saucepan or pot
  • Ladle or slotted spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks cinnamon sticks preferably fragrant and fresh
  • 1 handful cloves whole cloves recommended
  • 2 medium apple slices peeled and cored
  • 4 cups water enough to cover ingredients

Instructions

  • Add water to the large saucepan and place it over medium heat.
  • Drop in the cinnamon sticks and whole cloves into the water, allowing the warm aroma to begin releasing as the water heats.
  • Bring the water to a gentle simmer, watching as small bubbles form on the surface and the spices start infusing the air with their fragrant scents.
  • Add the fresh apple slices to the pot, spreading them evenly among the spices.
  • Let everything simmer gently, adjusting the heat as needed to maintain a steady, low boil for about 20–30 minutes, until the apple slices soften and the aroma intensifies.
  • Using a ladle or slotted spoon, carefully remove the apple slices and spices if desired, or leave them simmering for continuous fragrance.
  • Enjoy the warm, inviting scent filling your space, creating a cozy fall atmosphere and a sensory reminder of the season.

Notes

Keep an eye on the water level during simmering, adding more hot water if necessary to prevent burning or drying out. You can also add slices of orange or a splash of vanilla extract to customize the scent.
