  • Lid (optional)

  • 2 citrus citrus peels (oranges or lemons) peeled into strips
  • 3 sticks cinnamon whole cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cloves whole cloves preferably whole for aroma

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and measure out the water, citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  • Add two cups of water to the saucepan, then toss in the citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and turn on the burner.
  • Allow the mixture to warm up, and watch for small bubbles to form around the edges, releasing a fragrant aroma.
  • Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently, uncovered, for about 20-30 minutes, replenishing water if needed to keep the ingredients submerged.
  • As it simmers, enjoy the warm, spicy scent filling your home while the liquid turns slightly fragrant and steamy.
  • Once the time is up, turn off the heat and carefully remove the cinnamon sticks, citrus peels, and cloves if you prefer a clearer aroma or leave some in for a stronger scent.
  • Pour the fragrant liquid into a bowl to enjoy as a natural air freshener or leave it simmering for continuous scent dispersal.

Notes

Ensure to monitor the water level to prevent boiling dry. You can add additional citrus peels or a few extra cloves for a more intense aroma. Always handle hot liquids with care.
