Instructions
Preheat the oven and grease your baking dish
Chop dates and soak them in hot water with baking soda
Cream butter and brown sugar until light
Add eggs gradually, mixing well
Fold in flour and softened dates
Pour batter into baking dish
Bake until the sponge is set and springy
Prepare the toffee sauce in a saucepan
Pour warm sauce over the pudding
Serve immediately
Notes
Note: If baking in a larger dish instead of individual ramekins, allow 30–35 minutes and bake until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
