- ¼ cup water
- 1 1 ounce packet taco seasoning mix
- 2 8 ounce cans tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons white distilled vinegar
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons ground oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ½ teaspoon white sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 pounds skinless boneless chicken breasts
- 8 taco shells warmed
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add chicken breasts and sear until lightly golden on both sides.
Pour in tomato sauce, water, taco seasoning, vinegar, garlic, cumin, oregano, and sugar.
Stir well and bring to a simmer.
Cover and cook for 20–25 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked and tender.
Remove chicken and shred using two forks.
Return shredded chicken to the pan and mix into the sauce.
Spoon into warm taco shells and serve with your favorite toppings.
