Equipment

  • 1 Baking Sheets
  • 1 Enamelware Sheet Pan
  • 1 Parchment Paper
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Oven
  • 1 Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds broccoli cut into florets.
  • 3 garlic cloves minced.
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice from half a lemon of about 1 tablespoon
  • Kosher salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Turn the oven on to 450°F.
  • First, prepare some dry, clean broccoli by chopping it into tiny, bite-sized pieces. Combine the broccoli and oil on a baking sheet, tossing the broccoli with your hands to coat both sides. Layer the broccoli one at a time.

  • Add a generous amount of salt, pepper, and minced garlic. Bake until the stems are soft, 12 to 20 minutes.
  • Serve right away and savor.

Notes

  • Broccoli stems can also be roasted; however, before roasting, remove the fibrous outer layer with a vegetable peeler to prevent the stem from becoming too rough to eat.
  • You can add extra taste to your garnishes. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice (plus points for adding lemon zest, too) or a drizzle of thick balsamic vinegar or reduction are my favorite ways to end broccoli.
