The Freshman Cook: Valentine Parfaits/Day 5 of 14 Days of Valentine's!

Today’s Valentine Treat is a Valentine Parfait.

It is made with chocolate cake and whipped cream.

It is simple to make and yummy to eat!

2 1/4 cups Flour

1 teaspoon Baking Powder

3/4 teaspoon Baking Soda

2/3 cup Butter

1 3/4 cup Sugar

2 Eggs

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate

1 teaspoon Vanilla

1 1/4 cup Water

Whipped Cream

1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream

1/2 cup Confectioner’s Sugar

1 teaspoon Vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease and flour a 13×9 baking pan

Mix together your flour, baking powder,

and baking soda together in a bowl and set aside.

Cream your butter for 30 seconds on medium.

Add sugar and mix to combine.

Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each one.

Mix in the chocolate and vanilla.

Add flour and water, alternating each one, and beating

until combined after each addition.

Bake for 30-35 minutes until done.

Cool cake.

Make whipped cream by placing the cream in a

large mixing bowl. Mix on medium until

cream begins to thicken just a little.

Add confectioners sugar and turn speed

to high as soon as the sugar is

in no danger of flying all over the kitchen.

Beat on high until stiff peaks form.

Chop your cake into small pieces.

Add about 6 of them to the bottom

of your glass or bowl.

Layer whipped cream on the

top of the cake, then add another layer of cake.

Top the cake with more whipped cream

 and some pretty sprinkles!

Enjoy!
