About Me

Hi! My name is Teri, and I live near Raleigh, North Carolina with my husband and my son. I have been a professional chef and restaurant owner for the past 20 years (give or take a few)! I am not a freshman cook, but I write this blog for the freshman cook. I picked this name because I started this blog when my son began his sophmore year in college. He did not want to use the meal plan at school, and I worried that he might find himself eating too much junk food. Although he was very conscious of what he ate, I know how easy it is to just “drive thru” for dinner. Anyway, the idea worked, and he began cooking foods that he would eat if he were at home and I had cooked.
While I was a chef, one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen was teach others how to cook. I think it is a great skill to have, and I usually worked with a lot of people younger than myself, who weren’t sure what they were going to do with their lives. I always told them that as long as you can cook, you will always be able to find employment. Cooking is a skill that you can utilize pretty much anywhere in the world, and those skills transfer to a home kitchen quite easily.
I love to cook and bake, and I want to share my enthusiasm. Cooking is truly my passion, and I want to help you make it yours.  I want to help you find that place I find when I cook and bake~a place where I belong, where I feel totally at home, a place where I know I am doing what I was put here to do. This is my place, my niche, where the only limit is my imagination. I hope this blog inspires you and helps you find your passion. So, let’s get cookin’!!
