Club Baked~Caramel Apple Cake

It is Club Baked time again!! This time we made the Caramel Apple Cake from the book we have been baking through, Baked Explorations by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito. This cake is beautiful! There is a picture in the book, and it is the ultimate cake. Triple layer, perfectly iced, no wayward crumbs in the icing~perfect! Mine looks nothing like this one.
Take a look.....
This cake is delicious!
It was moist, and easy to make, although time consuming.
I did make a few changes in the recipe.
Here is what I did :
I made the cake in this pan, so it is a sheet cake.
I did make the applesauce. Sooo yummy!!
I did make the caramel sauce, but I did not make the frosting.

I was going for something a little less sweet, so I
used the caramel sauce as a topping.
It is wonderful, and you are going to love this recipe!
It reminds me of fall!

  1. The frosting was too hard for me, so I made a powdered sugar frosting, and I actually thought the cake was better with just caramel sauce drizzled all over it, so good choice! Thanks for baking along with me!

  3. That sounds great! The frosting was delicious, but def upped the sweet factor, so I like your tweak. :)

  5. I think all the components of this cake can stand on there own. I am sure your cake was delicious with the cake and caramel sauce. Nice idea to do a sheet cake. I personally don't even have 3 cake pans, so a sheet cake is a great way to go.

  6. We ate a bunch of our cupcakes unfrosted, and they were delicious, so I know your cake with caramel sauce was super yummy!

  9. Making this as a sheet cake is a wonderful idea. My husband doesn't eat fancy cakes so a sheet cake would be good for him.
