Fun, Fat Tuesday Cake Balls

Today is Fat Tuesday! You know, the last day to party hard before the 40 days of Lent begin. So, in the spirit of parties, I am hoping that you can fit some of these fun, Fat Tuesday Cake Balls into your celebrating!

Mardi gras


White Buttercream Frosting
Yellow Cake~Baked (9x13)
16 ounces bag White Chocolate Morsels 
Purple, Yellow Gold, and Green Food Color
Purple, Yellow Gold, and Green Sugar Topping

White Buttercream Frosting
1/2 cup Solid Vegetable Shortening
1 stick Butter (softened)
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
4 cups Confectioner's Sugar
2 tablespoon Milk

Mardi gras

 Make frosting by mixing together the butter and 
shortening until combined. Add vanilla.
Add sugar a cup at a time until completely mixed 
together. Add milk a teaspoon at a time until you
reach your desired consistency. Divide the frosting 
in to 3 equal portions. Color each portion. One green,
one yellow, and one purple.

Crumble your baked yellow cake into 3 separate bowls.

Take some of the yellow frosting and add it to the
bowl of crumbled cake. Mix it together with your
hands until all of the cake is yellow. Do this again with 
the green and the purple.

Scoop the cake frosting mix using a small 
scoop on to a cookie sheet. Then roll the scoops into
 balls as shown above.

Melt your white chocolate in a double boiler.

Start dipping the cake balls in the white chocolate.
Place back on parchment.

Sprinkle the tops of the cake balls with
 green, yellow and purple sugar.
Allow them time to dry completely.
