What Do Italians Do With Mortadella?

Italians mostly use mortadella in sandwiches, like in between slices of bread or rolls. Some might add extras, but many just enjoy mortadella alone in a sandwich. You can also find it on charcuterie boards, mixed into pasta, used in meatballs, or as a pizza topping.

Can I Eat Mortadella Raw?

Yes, you can eat mortadella as is, without cooking it. It’s often served cold, but some people like to fry it before putting it in sandwiches. Whether raw or cooked, mortadella is safe to eat.

What’s the White Stuff in Mortadella?

The white specks you see in mortadella are pieces of pork fat. They give mortadella its look and add flavour and texture to the meat.
